No plans to increase energy prices

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Government Information Council, Elyas Hazrati, stated Tuesday that there are no plans to raise energy prices, emphasizing that the focus is on managing consumption and optimizing subsidies.

Speaking on the sidelines of a media elite meeting, Hazrati clarified that the discussion on energy imbalances does not involve price hikes.

Instead, the government aims to regulate and optimize energy consumption and reorganize subsidies.

He noted that two key points regarding energy imbalances will be addressed this week, and if approved by the Supreme Council, they will be communicated to the media.

"The first point is that increasing prices is not on the agenda. The goal is to organize and ensure fair distribution of energy resources for the entire nation," Hazrati said.

He added that President Masoud Pezeshkian’s priority is justice and fairness, ensuring all citizens can benefit from the country’s natural resources.

Consumption, he stressed, must be managed and organized, with a proper consumption model established to make energy accessible to everyone.

Hazrati reiterated that no energy carrier will see price increases. Instead, energy will be managed based on a fair and structured consumption model.
