Residential gas consumption increases amid cold weather

SHANA (Tehran) – Residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial gas consumption surged to 617 million cubic meters (mcm) on Wednesday due to colder temperatures, according to Hassan Mousavi, spokesperson for the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC).

Mousavi reported that 859 mcm of sweet gas were delivered to the national gas grid on the same day. Of this, 72% was allocated to the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors, marking a 15% increase compared to the same day last year.

In response to the colder weather and anticipated temperature drops, President Masoud Pezeshkian, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, and other officials urged citizens to join the "Two Degrees Less" campaign through video and written messages. The initiative promotes optimal energy use and ensures adequate fuel supplies for the winter.
