50% increase in liquid fuel supply to power plants registered in four months

SHANA (Tehran) – The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) announced a 50% increase in liquid fuel delivery to power plants during the past four months compared to the same period last year.

In response to comments from the acting head of the Rey Gas Power Plant regarding a lack of fuel supply, the NIOPDC issued a statement, saying: "We inform our fellow citizens that the mentioned power plant is among the low-efficiency facilities of the Ministry of Energy. Its primary fuel is natural gas, with diesel serving as a backup.”

“The Rey Gas Power Plant primarily generates electricity using natural gas throughout the year. However, during the colder months, the Ministry of Energy’s Thermal Power Generation Company typically requests redirecting fuel supplies from Rey to higher-efficiency power plants, such as Damavand and Parand in Tehran Province."

The statement emphasized that liquid fuel delivery to power plants across the country has increased by 50% in the past four months (starting from late August) compared to last year.
