NIGC: Gas supply to vacant villas to be cut off

SHANA (Tehran) - The managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) announced that disconnecting gas supply to unoccupied villas is now being implemented to ensure stable gas delivery to regular consumers.

On Thursday, Saeid Tavakoli stated that all gas company facilities and equipment are fully prepared to meet the demand for the upcoming cold days.

He emphasized that gas is distributed to consumers based on the volume supplied to the network and in line with established priorities. "Our top priority is providing gas for residential and commercial sectors," he added.

Discussing consumption rates in these sectors, Tavakoli noted a significant increase of 130 million cubic meters compared to the same day last year, due to persistent cold weather across the country.

He further explained that the remaining gas production is allocated and distributed among industries, power plants, and other consumers. "Given the current supply-demand imbalance of 250 to 300 million cubic meters, some restrictions on gas delivery to various sectors during winter are unavoidable," Tavakoli said.

Highlighting the early onset of cold winter conditions, Tavakoli announced that gas supply to unoccupied villas would be cut to ensure residential gas needs are met. Inspections of such properties are already underway.
