Since its establishment, the GECF has held seven summits at the heads-of-state level, 25 ministerial meetings, 49 executive board meetings, and 55 technical and economic council sessions.
Iran has previously hosted the third GECF Summit in 2015, the first ministerial meeting in 2001, the 15th in 2013, and the 17th in 2015.
The 26th ministerial meeting marks Iran's fourth time hosting GECF oil and energy ministers which will be held from December 6-8 in Tehran.
On Friday, an extraordinary executive board meeting is scheduled and on Saturday, participants will visit Iran’s Petroleum Industry Research Institute, and bilateral meetings between ministers and Iranian officials are also planned. Later that day, the GECF will present its Global Gas Outlook report, a short-term gas market report, and its annual statistical bulletin to members and journalists.
The ministerial meeting will be held on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. local time, chaired by Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad.
The first session will include an opening ceremony, speeches by the GECF president and secretary-general, and remarks from attending ministers as the second session will be held behind closed doors, during which resolutions will be adopted.
A press conference featuring Paknejad and Hamel will follow the meeting.
Six countries will attend at the ministerial level, with the remaining member states represented by senior officials from oil and gas ministries. Additionally, five observer countries—Azerbaijan, Iraq, Mauritania, Senegal, and Mozambique—will also participate.
