U.S New Sanctions Illegal and Unjustified

SHANA (Tehran) - The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry described the new sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran’s energy sector as illegal and unjustified.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei Hamaneh condemned these sanctions, which were imposed under the pretext of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran's response to military actions of the Zionist regime and in self-defense, as illegal and strongly denounced them.

He described Iran’s missile operation against the Zionist regime as a lawful action under international law and consistent with the exercise of the inherent right of legitimate defense. Baghaei criticized the U.S. action in imposing sanctions on several companies and ships allegedly involved in the transfer of Iranian oil products, deeming it lacking any legal or logical basis and viewing it as a form of appeasement to the rogue Israeli regime.

The spokesperson reminded of the destructive and negative role of the U.S. in the security and stability of the West Asian region, stating that the U.S., as the most significant political supporter and main supplier of weapons used by the Zionist regime in the genocide of Gaza and aggression against Lebanon, is considered a partner and accomplice in committing severe international crimes.

"Imposing sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran under the guise of supporting the Zionist regime not only creates international responsibility for the U.S. government but also emboldens the occupying regime to continue the killing of innocents and threatening regional and global peace and security," Baghaei said, emphasizing Iran’s right to appropriately respond to U.S. sanction actions, asserting that the American regime’s addiction to the policy of threats and maximum pressure against the Iranian people will not affect the resolve of the Islamic Republic of Iran to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, national interests, and its citizens against any aggressive acts and foreign interventions.
