SHANA (Tehran) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian separately met with the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Russia, announcing new agreements to enhance gas cooperation.

Speaking on October 12, after returning from his trip to Turkmenistan, the president explained the results of his visit, saying: On the sidelines of a conference held in Ashgabat to commemorate the great Turkmen poet, Makhtumquli Faraghi, I met with four heads of state attending the ceremony.

Pointing to his meeting with the national leader and President of Turkmenistan, Pezeshkian said: In this meeting, we agreed on cooperation in gas, electricity, and boosting border markets exchanges, which are to be finalized at the joint economic cooperation commission meetings in Tehran.

The President also referred to his one-hour meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, stating: In this meeting, we had constructive discussions about cooperation in issues like gas, roads, railways, desalination, energy, and petrochemicals.

"We also decided to expedite the implementation of the agreements between the two countries", Pezeshkian said, adding: "We also discussed regional issues and asked Russia to take more effective action regarding the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and Lebanon."

The Iranian president, elsewhere in his remarks, said: I also met with the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and it was decided that joint working groups of the two countries hold meetings with their Iranian counterparts to further expand cooperation.

Pezeshkian further said: In total,  we tried to expand our country’s regional communications and cooperation in various fields to reduce the impact of unjust sanctions against Iran as much as possible, because the Islamic Republic of Iran is neighboring many countries, and increasing interaction with these countries can significantly help solve our problems.
