IGEDC Registers a New Record

SHANA (Tehran) - Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) has set a new record by launching 6 gas pressure boosting stations in just one year.

Attending a news conference on the sidelines of the Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, the managing director of IGEDC, Reza Noushadi, made the above remarks, adding the company had promised to launch the first gas pressure boosting station with an all-Iranian control system, “and now Aradan pressure boosting station has been working non-stop with the Iranian control system for 8 months and has been able to stabilize the gas network in the north and northwest of the country, especially in winter.”

He announced that over the past 40 years, the German company of Siemens has launched 360 turbines in 60 countries, implying 9 turbines each year on average; while IGEDC installed and launched 24 turbines last year at the 6 previously mentioned stations with total investment of 2 billion dollars; “and that is why we call it a great achievement.”

Noushadi also said that phase 2 of Ilam Refinery will be put into operation this year with the same control system, 76% of its equipment Iranian made.

Referring to the current projects of the company in eastern part of the country, he said the company’s ongoing 3-year project to implement 176 km of gas pipeline is now progressed by 90 km of gas injection in the fourteenth month of its implementation, noting “Gas injection to the remaining part of the pipeline will be carried out next month.” Noushadi told the reporters.

The CEO also said: a number of smart gas projects have been implemented in 7 provinces of the country as a pilot in order to move faster towards optimization of consumption.

Referring to the construction and development of gas storage in the country, Noushadi explained: Now the number of wells drilled in the Shurijeh reservoir has exceeded 10 wells, and with its completion, 2 billion cubic meters of gas storage will be added to its capacity. The development plan of the Sarajeh reservoir will also be carried out over the next year.

Noushadi concluded that Iran has become a gas country rather than being an oil country, because the heating value of the gas produced in the country is equivalent to 5.5 to 6 million barrels of oil per day, while the current daily production of oil in the country is about 3.5 million barrels.

In addition to 1,500 Iranian firms, a sum of 250 companies from 12 countries have taken part in Iran Oil Show 2024, whose motto is “Petroleum industry, production leap and technological optimization”.‎

Participants from the upstream, intermediate and downstream sectors of the oil industry, along with associations and unions of oil industry equipment manufacturers, first-time producers NTBFs are showcasing their achievements in the Iran Oil Show 2024, which is the most important Iranian event related to the oil industry.

Inaugurated on Wednesday, the exhibition will be open to visitors at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground every day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (0530 to 1230 GMT) until Saturday.
