Domestically-Manufacturing Rises By 85 Percent

SHANA (Tehran) - While the country is under sanctions, Petroleum Ministry has sought to support domestically-manufacturing in order to meet oil industry needs to equipment.

Managing director of Procurement and Commercialization of Technology at Petroleum Ministry, Gholamreza Khonsari, made the remarks adding that currently more than 85 percent of the oil industry’s equipment needs are being manufactured domestically which can turn Iran into an important country in view of exporting manufactured commodities.

Speaking to Shana, Khonsari said: the number of knowledge-based companies cooperating with the oil industry has risen from 150 companies in the beginning on the 13th administration taking office in August 2021 to 660 companies at present, representing a four-fold increase.

The rising number of knowledge-based companies working with Petroleum Ministry indicates that the ministry welcomes cooperation with these companies to promote domestically- manufacturing which is compatible with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution approach on relying on domestic capabilities, he told Shana.

Khonsari said that Petroleum Ministry and its subsidiaries have signed 52 first-time manufacturing contracts with domestic knowledge-based companies worth 92 million dollars, implying five-fold increase in concluding these kinds of contracts followed by saving 400 million dollars in case of importing the commodities from abroad.
