Raeisi arrives in Dezful to inaugurate Sepehr, Jofeir oil fields, other projects in SW Iran

SHANA (Ahvaz) – Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi landed in Dezful, a city in southwestern province of Khuzestan, on Friday to officially inaugurate Sepehr and Jofeir oil fields development project and several industrial, water, and steel projects.

The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) managing director said on Thursday Sepehr and Jofeir fields, situated in the West Karoun region, 60 kilometers off southwest of Ahvaz, the capital of southwestern province of Khuzestan, is underway on the basis of a 20-year 2.8-billion-dollar contract, the first one signed according to the new type dubbed the Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC), and will be put into operation with the daily output of 50,000 barrels light oil for export.

Due to the reservoir’s high pressure, it was not possible to use ordinary wellhead and downhole equipment, explained Khojastehmehr, adding well-completion equipment was manufactured inside the country and the job was done by applying the 10,000-pound-per-square-inch (psi) pressure to it.

He pointed to the installation of 51-kilometer-long oil transmission pipeline and construction of an access road with a length of over 32 kilometers as other operations carried out for the two fields’ development.

According to the official, 135 wells will become operational and 110,000 barrels of oil will be produced per day when the operations of the Sepehr and Jofeir project end.
