Owji requests gas conservation as cold weather persists

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji on Tuesday asked people to conserve gas as the cold spell continued to grip the northern parts of the country.

The minister said provinces in the northern half of the country may experience gas pressure drop due to the extreme cold wave, calling for customers to save energy by turning the central heating systems down a few degrees, wearing warm clothes at home and in the workplaces, and using thick curtains.

Owji said the administration has already ordered the ministries and governmental organizations to optimize the energy consumption.

All offices of the Oil Ministry have set the thermostats between 18°C and 21°C, he mentioned and added the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) is closely supervising.
