NIGC: Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan in talks to resume gas swap

SHANA (Tehran) – Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan are holding a discussion about the resumption of gas swap, said the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) on Saturday.

According to NIGC, the supply of Turkmenistan’s gas, which is swapped to Azerbaijan via Iran, has been temporarily cut off.

Ashgabat and Baku are negotiating, said the report, adding the gas supply will be restored as the two countries reach an agreement.

In November 2021, a tripartite agreement on gas swap from Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran was signed.
