Owji orders resumption of Golestan urea and ammonia project after years-long hiatus

SHANA (Gorgan) – Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji on Thursday gave the order to resume executive operations of a urea and ammonia project in Golestan Province, northeastern Iran.

The minister was briefed on the last stage of the operations of the petrochemical project suspended for years during his visit to the province.

Following the efforts made by Golestan Province’s representative in the Parliament, the Oil Ministry, and the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), a working group was formed to follow up the construction of the plant, in which people are shareholders.

Having a 60 percent share of the plant, the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) resumes the operations and will likely complete the project within three years.

The urea and ammonia project will create a great number of jobs in the province.
