Speaking on the sidelines of the Sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Morteza Shahmirzaei added integration within exporters will lead to Iran’s successful presence in international petrochemical markets.

Iran is exporting its high-quality petrochemicals to different countries, said the CEO, calling on exporters to avoid having a negative competition.

“We have to identify target markets and pay due heed to the country’s interests when it comes to supplying and selling products,” he underlined.

“Ill-wishers and enemies of the Islamic Republic system have faced defeat in different arenas,” said Shahmirzaei, reiterating NPC is determined to pave the way for Iranian exporters’ greater integration into target markets through adopting coherent and strategic policies.

China is one of the largest importers of petrochemical products while it is also one of the biggest producers of methanol in the world, noted the NPC chief, adding China is the main market for Iran’s methanol.

Investment in new petrochemical hubs

Iran’s petrochemical industry will make further progress in the 7th and 8th Development Plans, stated Shahmirzaei, expressing full support for foreign investments in new petrochemical projects.

New petrochemical hubs in Makran, Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone, Phase 2 of Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone, Deir, Kangan, and Lamerd have great capacities for producing different types of petrochemicals, he continued.

Based on the development plans, Jask in southern province of Hormuzgan will turn into a hub housing integrated refinery and petrochemical complexes, he pledged.

According to the NPC head, 110 petrochemical development projects are underway, which will diversify domestic products.

He put great emphasis on self-sufficiency, adding providing domestic industry with homegrown equipment and products within the next six years is a prioritized strategy.

All types of catalysts will be produced in Iran within the next two years, he vowed, adding great achievements have been made so far in this field.

The Sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held in Shanghai from November 5-10.

More than 50 Iranian companies and 250 traders participated in CIIE, holding a pavilion in the Chinese event.
