MP extols Oil Ministry’s ‘initiative’ to develop refineries overseas

SHANA (Tehran) – A member of Iran’s Parliament on Sunday said development of refineries in foreign countries was an “initiative” launched by the Oil Ministry under the 13th (incumbent) administration.

Talking to SHANA, Hossein Hosseinzadeh hailed the 13th administration for promoting energy diplomacy, adding the policy has helped Iran export technical and engineering services to Latin American countries.

The lawmaker is convinced that development of refineries overseas is one the strategies to neutralize sanctions, and the Oil Ministry has made great success in the area.

Hosseinzadeh, who is a member of the Iranian Parliament’s Energy Committee, said the Oil Ministry is doing a technical and scientific job in Venezuela, reiterating that Iran’s oil and gas sectors are currently exporting technical and engineering services to other Latin American states.

“We are witnessing [Iran’s] engagement and role in regional developments thanks to expansion of diplomatic capacities by the 13th administration,” noted the parliamentarian, pointing to economic and energy diplomacy as one of its main categories, which is in progress along with Iran’s cooperation with neighboring states in other fields.
