Abbas Basafa said about 5,100 gasoline stations across the country were updated in the early hours of Saturday as part of the implementation of the new gasoline rationing plan, with changes in quotas and prices applied to the system.
He said the necessary infrastructure had been prepared and preliminary work completed, but no action has yet been taken for newly registered vehicles, adding that this will be addressed in later stages.
The new gasoline rationing plan took effect nationwide early Saturday. Under the decision, gasoline quotas for government vehicles — except ambulances — vehicles in free trade zones and imported vehicles have been eliminated. These vehicles must now refuel at the free-market rate of 5,000 rials per liter.
The monthly gasoline quota for private vehicles remains unchanged at 160 liters, including 60 liters at the subsidized rate of 1,500 rials per liter and 100 liters at the second-tier rate of 3,000 rials per liter. Any additional consumption is supplied using station cards at the free-market rate of 5,000 rials per liter.
