ABU DHABI - Snamprogetti, the engineering subsidiary of Italian energy group ENI SpA, on Sunday signed a contract worth 381.8 million dollars to develop an oil field in Abu Dhabi.

Snamprogetti signed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. "The contract is for the Bu Hasa Facilities Development Project at the Bu Hasa Field located 200 kilometres (124 miles) southwest of Abu Dhabi," an ADCO statement said. The project, expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2006, involves the construction of a plant with a total capacity of 730,000 barrels of oil per day. "The project consists of new centralised oil production facilities and gas and water injection facilities applying the latest technology," the statement said. "We see more potential in Abu Dhabi's oil sector in future. We have won contracts in excess of 500 million dollars in the last eight years," said Agnelo Caridi, Snamprogetti's managing director.
