MP: Oil Ministry proves sanctions can be skirted by energy diplomacy

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s Oil Ministry has proved that sanctions can be circumvented by exercising energy diplomacy, said a lawmaker.

Abdolali Rahimi Mozaffar, a member of the Presiding Board of the Parliament’s Energy Committee, who made the remarks in his talks with SHANA, lauded the ministry’s performance and added, “The incumbent administration has given new life to energy diplomacy and effective measures can be carried out through it.”

The MP said energy diplomacy can now play an invaluable role in turning threats into opportunities.

The oil sector is an opportunity for the country that had been sometimes turned into a threat due to inappropriate approaches in the past decades, regretted Rahimi Mozaffar.

The Oil Ministry’s energy relations and negotiations with countries such as neighboring states of Oman and Turkmenistan will undoubtedly help promote energy diplomacy, said the lawmaker.
