Iran, Russia sign statement of cooperation

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran and Russia inked a statement of cooperation here on Wednesday in the presence of Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad ‎Mokhber and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

Speaking at the meeting, Mokhber said the two countries’ private sectors need to cooperate more in mutual economic interactions, adding, "We need to use all capacities with the private sectors having the leading position."

Referring to the agreement inked between Iran and Russia to implement the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) as an important step in the two countries’ relations, he said, “We need to follow up implementation of the agreement, and I am confident that the regional states will benefit from it.”

He put great emphasis on accelerating the removal of dollar from financial interactions, adding removing dollar from financial exchanges of Tehran and Moscow is of high importance to speed up economic cooperation.

The vice president also urged further cooperation in oil, transportation and car manufacturing.

Meanwhile, Russian deputy prime minister said the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is a strategic route for Iran, Russia and all countries in the region.

Pointing to the reviews of various areas including oil, banking, industry and agriculture, he said the two countries have reached appropriate economic agreements.

He also referred to his visits to some industrial centers in Iran, saying Moscow is looking for new areas of economic cooperation with Tehran.
