Iran Oil Output beyond 3mbd

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The Iranian Minister of Petroleum said Iran's oil production capacity reached 3 million barrels per day, and the country's light oil production capacity has increased by 200,000 barrels per day with the initiative of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry.

Javad Owji told reporters on Wednesday on the sidelines of the government cabinet meeting: “With the efforts of the Ministry of Petroleum, the Isfahan Oil Refinery's diesel refining project has been launched with a capacity of 15 million liters of Euro 5 diesel and will be put into operation soon.”

He added: “With the operation of this unit in the Isfahan refinery, about 50% of the diesel consumed in the country will be produced in the form of Euro 5.”

Stating that fuel quality improvement projects in Abadan and Tabriz refineries are also ready for operation, the Minister of Petroleum added: “The Ministry of Petroleum is seriously looking for fuel quality improvement in the country's existing refineries.”

Pointing out that Iran's light oil has good customers, Owji said: "We are in the production channel of 3 million barrels of oil per day, while the country's light oil production capacity has increased by 200,000 barrels per day with the initiative of my colleagues at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry.”

He said about the state of gas supply to the country's power plants: “Fortunately, this fall season, the gas supply to the country's power plants has increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, which shows that we have been able to use less liquid fuel (fuel oil and diesel) in the country's power plants.”
