IOOC to Entrust Drilling of 21 Wells to KBCs

TEHRAN (Shana) – The CEO of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) said his company is in talks with several knowledge-based companies (KBCs) to entrust them with the drilling operations of 21 offshore wells.

According to IOOC, Alireza Mehdizadeh said on Thursday that in the field of improved oil recovery (IOR) and enhanced oil recovery (EOR), 21 wells in this company have been selected and introduced to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), which will soon be handed over to knowledge-based companies to start activities on them.”

Speaking on the last day of the first oil and gas well exploitation conference, the IOOC CEO said: “In order to realize the enhancement in production capacity, implementation of IOR and EOR methods is included in the company's plan.”

Regarding IOOC’s main underground challenges, he said: “Pressure drop in some reservoirs and the need to implement gas injection schemes, low quality of reservoir properties and very low recovery rate in some reservoirs, including Ilam Reservoir in Alvand Field, etc. are among these challenges which require new technologies to perform IOR and EOR methods.”
