Javad Owji's decree was addressed to Ahmad Asadzadeh and read as follows:
"Regarding your commitment, experience and expertise, and according to paragraph (c) of the Law on Duties and Powers of the Ministry of Petroleum (approved in 2012), you are hereby appointed “Deputy Minister of Petroleum for International Affairs and Trading”. It is expected that with the help of God Almighty and using all the capacities, and taking the necessary and effective measures, you achieve the following goals:
1- Determining and formulating the country's energy diplomacy and participation in the process of developing national security using energy resources and with the cooperation of relevant agencies and institutions within the framework of the national document of the country's energy strategy and general policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran;
2- Planning to use the capacity of the country's diplomatic apparatus to develop Iran’s oil industry;
3- Policy-making and integration of all international interactions of the Ministry of Petroleum and its subsidiaries in order to achieve the goals of the country's energy diplomacy;
4- Exert special efforts to establish international relations, negotiate and conclude memoranda, bilateral or multilateral agreements with governments and international institutions in various fields, especially investment in the oil industry through coordination with relevant bodies in the Ministry of Petroleum;
5- Effective presence in international forums in order to neutralize and lift oppressive economic sanctions against the oil industry;
6- Strengthening public diplomacy in the international arena of the oil industry, by relying on the capabilities of the elites present in the oil industry, universities and research centers inside and outside the country;
Ahmad Asadzadeh has been working as the caretaker of the Department of International Affairs and Trading of the Ministry of Petroleum since September 20.
