Iran Gas Consumption Exceeds 700mcm

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iran’s gas consumption has exceeded 700 million cubic meters in the past 24 hours, said the dispatching director of the National Iranian Gas Company.

Mohammad Reza Julaei said that 748 million cubic meters of natural gas has been consumed in the country in the last 24 hours, and announced the beginning of restrictions on gas supply to the country's industries and petrochemical plants.

Speaking to Shana, Julaei said: “The amount of natural gas consumption in the last 24 hours in the domestic, commercial and non-major industries was 521 million cubic meters, major industries 129 million cubic meters and power plants 98 million cubic meters.”

He said: “The amount of gas injected into the network of national lines at this time was 811 million cubic meters.”

The dispatching director of the National Iranian Gas Company stated that the amount of gas consumed in the domestic sector has increased by 8% compared to the same time last year.

Julaei stated: “Restriction of gas supply to industries has also started, and the first phase of restricting gas supply to cement and petrochemical industries and the second phase of restricting gas supply to steel industries has been implemented.”
