Owji: Lift Iran’s Sanctions to Reduce Global Energy Crisis

TEHRAN (SHANA) -- Iranian Minister of Petroleum, Javad Owji, announced Iran’s readiness to solve global energy crisis as quickly as possible, adding I would recommend that American and European decision makers learn from the current situation and lift the sanctions against Iran to help reduce the crisis.

OPEC Plus’ members agreed today to raise crude oil output by 400,000 bpd for November, as previously decided in the 19th OPEC Plus Meeting, and their production will not exceed the agreed level as in September, Owji said after the 21st OPEC and Non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting held via video conference on Monday, October 4, 2021.

On energy shortage crisis in the world, he said, as you know there are concerns about fuel supply in many European countries and even the United States, adding the unprecedented surging gas prices in Europe was driven by a fall in gas storage levels.

Iran’s petroleum minister referred to the sanctions imposed against Iran and said: European and the U.S. people are now struggling with such an issue in a situation that their governments have long imposed illegal and cruel sanctions against our crude oil exports, as one of the major oil exporting countries.

Owji went on to say that available evidence proves that this unilateral and trans-regional policy has not only influenced Iran, but this unwise decision has also had such a huge cost for the people in other countries which, we believe, can be expanded in the future if they irrationally insist on the sanctions against Iran’s oil exports.

Sanction-imposers have entangled in their sanctions

Iran has repeatedly announced, in good faith, the readiness to increase its oil output and stabilize the market, he stressed, adding we are now ready to solve the existing global energy crisis as quickly as possible and supply the shortage. I would recommend that the decision makers learn from the current situation and lift the sanctions against Iran to help reduce the crisis so that all people can use cheap and available energy.

Iranian petroleum minister cited the surge in fuel prices in Europe and the United States and the fuel shortage in the U.K. gas stations as just a part of the world’s concerns over energy supply, adding rising inflation and declining household purchasing power in those countries have obviously affected livelihoods negatively and led to discontent and protests.

Owji said: true, they imposed sanctions against us but they have also been entangled in their own sanctions. Iran has repeatedly announced that we are ready to raise crude oil output and exports to solve the problems.
