Raisi Calls for Bolstering Tehran-Dushanbe Ties to Boost Regional Cooperation

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that the deepening and strengthening of bilateral relations and interactions between Iran and Tajikistan will be a ground for enhancing the level of regional cooperation between the two countries.

According to President.ir, Dr. Raisi told a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on Saturday, September 18, that the common religion, culture and language of the two nations, can open a new chapter in the flourishing of relations and cooperation in the economic, cultural and political fields between the two countries.

He added that the officials of Iran and Tajikistan should establish stable and comprehensive relations between the two Persian-speaking countries through regular meetings and talks, which should become a model at the regional level.

During the meeting, the President of Tajikistan thanked the Iranian President for accepting his invitation to attend the 22nd Shanghai Summit, which was chaired by his country, and for the fact that the President paid his first foreign visit to the Tajik country.

Referring to the history of cooperation and joint projects implemented by Iranian experts in Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon said: "The friendship and love that exists between the people and the government of the two countries is a very good ground for improving the level of cooperation and relations between the two countries."

At the end of the meeting, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and officials accompanying the President and the Tajik officials signed six memoranda of understanding, an agreement and a technical protocol on customs cooperation.
