8,000 Meters of Drilling Operations in South Pars Phase 11

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of Petropars Group said that roughly 8,000 meters of drilling operations have been carried out in phase 11 of the South Pars offshore gas field.

According to Petropars, Hamidreza Masoudi said the first phase of drilling operations in the phase includes drilling four production wells despite the limitations caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

He said the expected amount of drilling of the four wells is 15,000 meters, and said out of this amount, about 8,000 meters have been drilled so far.

The CEO of Petropars Group stressed the need for taking measures to start early production from the last phase of the South Pars joint field, adding: “The developers of the pipelines and development project of Phase 11 have been selected and operations will begin in the project after the approval of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).”

Masoudi added: "The share of Iranian companies in various parts of the Phase 11 development plan, including provision of equipment, is beyond the commitment of Petropars Group in the Phase 11 development contract, and this company has always put support for Iranian goods and the country's technical and engineering capabilities at the forefront of its decisions."

The first section of Phase 11 development project entails construction and installation of the jacket and topside of the phase, drilling 12 wells and laying 32-inch pipes in the seabed from the phase’s platform to onshore facilities.
