PEDEC CEO Satisfied with Azar Field Development

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) expressed satisfaction at completion of the first phase of Azar Field's development project despite all the difficulties and complexities of its reservoir.

Speaking to Shana on the sidelines of the 25th Iran Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, Touraj Dehghani said: "Given its complexities and special reservoir conditions such as high reservoir pressure, high degree of fluid corrosion, the type of reservoir rock and therefore the need for special equipment and alloys, Azar Oil Field is regarded as a hard field for development, but the study of the field development process shows that despite all these difficulties and complexities, the development process is well implemented technically, operationally and in terms of safety."

He continued: "The experiences gained from the development of this field are considered valuable for the oil industry and according to the order and system governing the process of development and implementation of various parts of the project based in the project, especially in recent years, it should be said that contractor of this project can play a role as a real exploration and production (E&P) company in the not-too-distant future."

PEDEC has awarded a consortium of Oil Industries Engineering and Construction (OIEC) and Oil Industry Pension Fund Investment Company (OPIC) development of the project.
