NIDC Researcher Invents New Cement to Boost Life of Oil Wells

TEHRAN (Shana) – A researcher at the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) succeeded in inventing a new type of cement to increase the useful life of oil and gas wells.

According to NIDC, Asghar Sadeghabadi, head of research, technology and engineering management studies of the company, said: "Using this type of cement saves time and costs of the oil industry."

He said design and manufacture of a type of drilling compound with a new formulation, invention of the Nano DU for perforation of high-efficiency oil and gas wells (jointly with Dr. Deneh Dezfuli) and invention and production of lubricating drilling cables with cathodic protection for the first time in the world as a number of his achievements in the field of research and technology in oil industry.

The researcher, who has a PhD in medical engineering and has 20 years of experience in the National Iranian Drilling Company, said the cement was provided in two types compatible for harsh conditions in Iranian oil and gas fields while protecting the environment.

Sadeghabadi  said this material is used to protect drilling pipes and weight pipes in drilling operations and is strategically very important in the drilling industry, so that drilling is not possible without its use and is directly related to oil and gas production.

He further cited the development of technical know-how for making absorbable nano-hybrid cardiac stents, making anti-coronavirus (K20) material, preparing 12 scientific and ISI research papers and presenting 9 knowledge-based entrepreneurship projects for young people in the last four years among his recent efforts in the field of research and technology.
