Iran to Ink Turbine Deal with Local Firm

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said the country was planning to sign a deal with a local firm for manufacturing pressure boosting turbines and compressors for South Pars Phase 11 project.

Addressing a ceremony to officially launch drilling operations in the project on Monday, the official said that Pars Oil and Gas Company had promised to bring gas production from the phase to 500 million cubic feet by next winter.

He said one of the goals envisaged in Phase 11 is the issue of pressure boosting in South Pars which has become a vital issue for developing the joint gas field in the Persian Gulf waters.

“One of our decisions is to entrust an Iranian company, Oil Turbo-Compressor Company (OTC), with manufacturing of pressure boosting turbines and compressors,” he said, adding, “Soon, a contract will be signed with the company for construction of several turbines and compressors.”
