IOTC Builds Expansion Joints for SMBs

TEHRAN (Shana) – Experts at the Iranian Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) have successfully built expansion joints used in Single Buoy Moorings (SBMs).

According to IOTC, the item was localized by IOTC experts and domestic knowledge-based companies.

The equipment was installed and operated on two SBMs at Assaluyeh gas condensate terminal.

Abbas Asadrooz, CEO of the company, said: "Using domestic capabilities is one of the main concerns for the company so that we will not need to buy foreign equipment and the technical and engineering units of this company take effective steps in self-sufficiency."

He added: "In the current special situation and due to the imposition of sanctions by foreign countries, the specialists of IOTC in cooperation with domestic knowledge-based companies succeeded in designing and localizing one of the practical equipment."

The IOTC CEO stated that all SBMs that are used for loading fluids, due to the nature of rotation during loading and connection to the ship, have motion stresses on flow lines, which are vibrations and stresses caused by fluid pressure fluctuations and equipment movement which is absorbed and restrained by the expansion joints.

He said the joints have now be localized by IOTC which were previously only imported from an American supplier.
