TEHRAN (Shana) -- A member of the Iranian Oil Industry Equipment Manufacturers Association said the country was self-sufficient in production of wellhead valves.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 16th Kish International Energy Exhibition, Hassan Vafa'i, said on Wednesday that Iranian manufacturers had acquired the savvy to build wellhead valves under the US sanctions.

The member of the Oil Industry Equipment Manufacturers Association added: "Under the current conditions, Iran has fully acquired the technical know-how to manufacture the equipment in such a way that 80 Iran-made wellhead valves have been installed in the gas platforms of phases 13, 22, 23 and 24 of the South Pars gas field..”

He further said that Iranian manufacturers and companies, besides supplying key industrial parts, could guarantee the items.

Vafa'i said wellhead valves are now being manufactured domestically at a pressure of around 10,000 PSI, and in the second step, “we are looking to build valves with a capacity of 15,000 PSI with the participation of local knowledge-based companies.
