NIOC Awarding 8 Field Development Projects

TEHRAN (Shana) -- A deputy CEO of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has said that the development of eight fields was to be awarded to mainly Iranian companies.

Reza Dehqan, deputy CEO for development and engineering, named the fields as Changouleh, Dehloran, Sohrab, Parsi, Paranj, Karanj, Yaran and Ab Teimour.

"Development talks for most of these fields are under way with Iranian companies," he said on the sidelines of Tehran Oil Show.

He said that the pace of development would inevitably slow down under sanctions, "but we have focused our efforts on sparing the development of joint fields any impact so that they would go on smoothly."

Dehqan said four Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC)-style contracts had so far been signed.

"The development contract for the Aban and West Paydar fields is effective and making good progress. We have placed orders for commodities," he said, adding that the contract for the Sepehr and Jofair fields would soon be implemented while the development of Dalpari, East Paydar and Cheshmeh Khosh would become effective soon.

Referring to Phase 11 of the giant offshore South Pars gas field, he said talks were under way with China's CNPC after France's Total quit due to US sanctions.

"Talks are under way with this Chinese company to overcome the existing problems and continue the agreement, but if the talks fail to pay off we will make other arrangements. Petropars, as a member of SP11 consortium, is ready to develop stage 1 of SP11.

Dehqan said there was no "serious talks" under way with Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters, the engineering arm of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). He, however, said the headquarters was "qualified".

He separately said that production from South Pars, which Iran shares with neighboring Qatar, would increase 60 mcm/d in the current calendar year.

Dehqan said talks were under way with India's ONGC for the development of Farzad-B field.

He said feasibility studies on four exploration blocks are to be assigned in the current calendar year.
