Soroush Platform Blast Successfully Controlled

TEHRAN, July 19 (Shana) – Head of the Group of Repairers of Soroush Platform of Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) Taleb Safari says leakage of the platform had been successfully blocked, thus obviating possible explosions.

"The platform blast was less likely and successful curbing of the leakage prevented such a catastrophe," Safari told Shana.
Safari said due to high quality of oil obtained from Soroush and Norouz oil fields, they are of high significance for the IOOCand the oil industry. "So checking the leakage and fundamental overhauling of the wells were among goals of the group of repairers."
He said risk of blast was not far from expectation regarding the wide scale oil and gas leakage and the team of repairers managed to control the incident as such a success could not be gained without careful planning of the repaiers.
He noted that the operations were handled within shortest possible time.
