Petrochemical Output Up by 1.3 mt

TEHRAN Feb 03(Shana)--Iran’s petrochemical production capacity will rise by 1.3 million tons this year, managing director of NPC Abbas Sheri-Moqaddam said.

Speaking to Shana, he added it is expected petrochemical production capacity will hike by another 7.1 million tons next year.

He noted that if NIOC’s officials keep their promises on delivery of the total ethane produced in South Pars gas field to petrochemical plants, petrochemical output will rise by 2 million tons next year in Assaluyeh, onshore installations of South Pars gas field.

He said, launching 14 petrochemical projects next year and rising gas production from South Pars will provide a good opportunity for petrochemical sector to raise its annual production by 8 million tons in total next year.

NPC chief executive said easing of sanctions by March will make the transfer of technology and foreign exchange to Iran possible, and then it can be expected that Iran's total petrochemical production capacity will hit 100 million tons per year in 2020 from the current level of 60 million tons.

According to Sheri Moqqdam, Miandoab, Andimeshk, Bushehr, Masjedsoleiman, Sabalan, Hengam, Kharg, Genaveh, Dashtestan, Siraf, Petrokimia, styrene Park, veniran, Shimiparsa, Marjan, Gachsaran and Firouzabad are among the petrochemical complexes scheduled to come online up to next four years.
