SRU Equipment Designed

TEHRAN Dec 08 (Shana)--The Research and Technology Directorate of National Iranian Gas Company and Research Institute of Petroleum Industry have designed equipment used in sulfur recovery, the project manager said.

Hamid Ganji said the process is applied to produce sulfur from S2H, adding that the equipment facilitates acquiring permit for establishing a sulfur recovery unit (SRU).

He said sulfur is widely used in agricultural, military and healthcare industries, adding that Iran can export sulfur to make gains.

The Claus process is the most significant gas desulfurizing process, recovering elemental sulfur from gaseous hydrogen sulfide.

The multi-step Claus process recovers sulfur from the gaseous hydrogen sulfide found in raw natural gas and from the by-product gases containing hydrogen sulfide derived from refining crude oil and other industrial processes.
