South Pars gas production rises with second infill well coming online

SHANA (Tehran) - The CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) announced the completion of the second infill drilling well at the SPD1 platform in Phase 1, stating that its operation has increased South Pars gas field’s daily production capacity by 1.8 million cubic meters.

According to Pars Oil and Gas Company, Touraj Dehqani described the infill drilling project as a key measure to maintain production levels at the South Pars gas field.
He noted that after more than two decades of production, drilling new wells near existing ones plays a crucial role in sustaining output.

Dehqani praised Petropars Company for its work on drilling and operating the second well and added that another well will be completed and brought online in the coming weeks.

The CEO stated that the infill drilling project is currently underway across four blocks of the South Pars field. Previously, Well No. 5 at the SPD12B platform began production in March 2025, followed by the new well at SPD1. A third well at the Phase 19 platform is also ready for operation.

The infill drilling project aims to drill 35 new wells across 17 platforms in the South Pars field. Once completed, it will boost the field’s daily gas production by 36 million cubic meters.
