Hamid Bovard, speaking on the sidelines of the memorial ceremony, described the overwhelming public attendance as beyond words.
"The immense presence of the people is indescribable. My colleagues and I in the oil industry see ourselves as just a drop in the boundless ocean of this great nation," he said.
Bovard added that the leader's sudden death had given the Iranian people and the wider Islamic world the opportunity to honor and mourn what he described as a prominent global figure.
"We have gathered here today to renew our pledge to the ideals of the martyred leader of the Revolution, as well as to the Leader, and to commemorate his memory," he said.
Referring to what he described as an economic war and hostile attempts to damage the country's infrastructure, Bovard said that despite attacks on key facilities, Iran's oil industry had continued to fulfill its duties across the country and would remain committed to doing so.
Emphasizing the strategic role of the oil sector in the national economy, he said oil industry personnel are "the frontline soldiers of the country's economy" and expressed confidence that they would also play a successful role in reconstruction efforts while continuing their mission with determination.
Asked about the message conveyed by the large public gathering, Bovard said the turnout itself spoke louder than words.
"We consider ourselves part of the people. Their overwhelming presence is the greatest message. This vast sea of people says everything that needs to be said," he said.
