Speaking on Saturday on the sidelines of a meeting with Nicaragua's foreign minister, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad described the martyred leader as a wise statesman who guided the country through difficult periods during his leadership.
"He led the country through challenging times while remaining committed to his principles," Paknejad said, adding that his legacy would endure despite the nation's grief over his loss.
Nationwide fuel supply secured
Paknejad said the Oil Ministry's primary responsibility is to guarantee a reliable fuel supply and that preparations had been underway well in advance of the ceremonies.
Strategic fuel reserves have been allocated for the period, he said, while mobile fueling stations have been deployed along major highways and in cities hosting the events.
"There will be no concerns regarding fuel availability," Paknejad said. "The required fuel will be supplied across the country without interruption."
Oil industry supporting national efforts
The minister said various sectors of Iran's oil industry are assisting other government agencies, including by supporting transportation for visitors and helping provide logistical services during the large public gatherings.
He added that Tehran is hosting crowds far exceeding initial estimates and that Oil Ministry personnel are working across multiple sectors to support the events. Service stations and hospitality booths operated by the ministry have also been established throughout the capital to provide assistance to participants.
Energy cooperation with Nicaragua
Paknejad also discussed his meeting with Nicaragua's foreign minister, who traveled to Iran to attend the funeral ceremonies.
He said Iran and Nicaragua share common positions on many international issues and noted that Nicaragua supported Iran during the recent conflict.
The two sides also reviewed opportunities to expand cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in petroleum products trade. Paknejad said both countries agreed to establish specialized working groups to continue negotiations and identify practical measures to meet Nicaragua's energy needs while strengthening bilateral cooperation.
