Paknejad: Iran, India discussed investment in oil projects during BRICS visit

SHANA (Tehran) — Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said meetings with Indian officials focused on expanding investment and participation in Iran's oil industry projects, while also addressing the impact of recent conflict on global energy markets and the role of BRICS in safeguarding energy security.

In a post on X following his visit to India, Paknejad said discussions highlighted the effects of war on the global oil market and stressed the need for the withdrawal of US forces from the Middle East. He also said BRICS members bear a responsibility to contribute to global energy security.
According to the minister, talks with Indian officials included investment opportunities and participation in Iranian oil projects, underscoring efforts to strengthen energy cooperation with New Delhi. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting, where Iran and India also held bilateral talks on expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
Paknejad has emphasized Iran's readiness to deepen economic and energy ties with India, describing the two countries' longstanding relationship as a foundation for broader cooperation in oil, gas and other economic sectors.
