New Rig Moved to Yaran Field

TEHRAN August 5 (Shana)--A superheavy drilling rig has been moved to Yaran oil field to accelerate drilling operations in this field shared with neighboring Iraq.

Nasrollah Abbasi, director of Yaran oil field drilling in the National Iranian Drilling Company, said the Fath-60 rig is being added to Fath-28 and Fath-92 rigs already spudding appraisal and development wells.
He said that Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) has commissioned the drilling of 22 wells to NIDC on a turnkey basis.
Yaran oil field is estimated to contain 1.1 billion barrels of crude oil. It is being developed by Iranian companies.
The new drilling rig can drill up to 6,000 meters deep underground. It is used for exploration of oil and gas fields.
