Saeid Tavakoli, deputy oil minister for gas affairs, told Shana that the country's gas processing and production sector was among the areas most heavily damaged during attacks on energy infrastructure during the conflict, resulting in the loss of part of Iran's gas production capacity.
Tavakoli said the Oil Ministry adopted a unified management approach from the first day of the attacks, developing short-, medium-, and long-term recovery plans. Specialized teams were formed to execute the programs, with priority given to rapid-impact measures aimed at restoring part of the lost production capacity before the upcoming winter season.
He said two of the early recovery projects have now been completed, returning 30 million cubic meters per day of sweet gas to the national network.
According to Tavakoli, the restored capacity was achieved following debris removal, damage assessments, and a series of technical and engineering operations. Initial steps have also been taken to support the longer-term reconstruction process.
The deputy oil minister said roughly one-third of the country's gas processing capacity was lost as a result of the attacks. He noted that restoring production to pre-conflict levels will require extensive engineering studies, procurement, manufacturing, and construction work, making it a long-term undertaking.
