According to NIDC, the rigs had previously been taken out of service but were successfully restored through accelerated reconstruction and upgrading efforts. The initiative comes as Iran’s oil industry faces growing demand for uninterrupted production, operational readiness and maximum utilization of existing assets.
The company said the rehabilitation program relied heavily on domestic expertise, close coordination among technical and operational teams, and continuous field supervision to expedite the restoration and modernization of drilling equipment.
Over recent months, particularly during the sensitive period of the recent conflict, NIDC’s chief executive closely monitored drilling operations and field activities to ensure that development and production projects in oil and gas fields continued without disruption. Industry experts say the effort helped maintain the stability of the country’s energy production chain.
The return of the six rigs is part of NIDC’s broader strategy to enhance fleet readiness, improve operational efficiency and support the development plans of Iran’s oil industry.
The project also aligns with the objectives of Iran’s Seventh Development Plan, efforts to increase oil and gas production capacity, and policies outlined by the Ministry of Oil. The achievement highlights the technical capabilities, management capacity and reliance on domestic expertise within Iran’s drilling sector under challenging operating conditions.
Industry officials say bringing the previously idle rigs back into operation is expected to strengthen NIDC’s operational capabilities, accelerate development projects and contribute to higher national oil and gas production.
