Ardeshir Dadras said that 90% of station owners in Tehran province began offering free CNG to taxis and public transport vehicles on March 1, the day after what he described as the start of an American-Zionist war against Iran.
"This action demonstrates the effective and prominent role of CNG in supporting gasoline consumption and contributing to sustainable governance during a crisis," Dadras said.
Visits to Tehran CNG Stations Triple
Dadras emphasized the security and sustainable development of CNG in the country, noting that visits to CNG stations in Tehran province have nearly tripled since March 8 compared to the first days of the conflict. He added that the availability of CNG as a backup fuel and the prevalence of dual-fuel vehicles reflect a sound national energy strategy.
According to Dadras, more than 1,500 vehicles are now visiting CNG stations in Tehran province daily for fuel. He also noted that about 40% of stations in neighboring Alborz province are offering free CNG, a move that has been well-received by the public.
Dadras stressed that the CNG industry is a fundamental component of the country's energy supply for transportation and deserves greater attention. He highlighted CNG's safety and strategic advantages, noting it is less vulnerable to threats, and called for an increase in both CNG's share in the fuel mix and the number of private dual-fuel vehicles.
