Tehran March 13 (Shana): ‘Gas flow from the offshore South Pars gas field phase 12 will reach onshore installations up to the end of next Iranian calendar year 1390 (ending on March 20 2012),’ Rasoul Falahnejad who is in charge of the phase 12 development said on Saturday.

Talking to Shana, Mr. Falahnejad named the year 1390 as an exceptional year in view of hard work and funding the project adding based on our planning, gas processing by the onshore installations of the phase would be started during the first quarter of the year 1391 (starting 21st March 2012) reaching full production capacity in third quarter of the same year.

Stating the phase has generally progressed by 44 percent, the official noted onshore construction is underway in Tombac region by three Iranian contactors in the form of engineering, procurement and construction contracts.

‘Despite imposing restrictions by the western countries, onshore operations of the phase have moved forward by more than 26 percent,’ Falahnejad noted.

Referring to satisfying concreting operations and construction of infrastructures at onshore sector of the phase 12, the official said that installation of steel structures had been started along with completion of designing work and ordering necessary goods and equipments.

According to the official, laying offshore gas pipelines has progressed by 86 percent. Fallahnejad went on to day that laying the 149 kilometers length “Pipeline A” and 140 kilometers length “pipeline B” had been completed amid appropriate speed of laying “pipeline C” that is moving forward by laying two kilometers of pipeline each day.

Referring to the completion of 75 kilometers of the150 kilometers length Third Gas Pipeline of the phase 12, the official added: ‘in case of good weather condition in the Persian Gulf, there is the possibility to complete the pipeline up to next April.

The south pars gas field phase 12 development is the biggest ongoing project of the Petropars Company. The production capacity of the project is equal to three conventional South Pars phases.

South pars phase 12 development aims to produce 75 million cubic meters of gas per day for injection to sixth Iran’s gas trunkline or delivering it to LNG plants, production of 120 thousand barrels of gas condensates and 750 tons of sulfur.

The South Pars field is a gas condensate field located in the Persian Gulf. It is the world’s largest gas field and is shared by Iran and Qatar.

According to the International Energy Agency, the field holds an estimated 50.97 trillion cubic meters (1800 trillion cubic feet) of in-situ gas and some 50 billion barrels of condensates. Iran holds the world’s second-largest reserves of natural gas and the third-largest reserves of oil.
