According to the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), the diesel quality upgrade project (DHT) at the Shiraz refinery was inaugurated Tuesday, Feb. 3. With a daily capacity of 4.2 million liters, the project is designed to improve diesel quality and reduce fuel-related emissions. The project required an investment of 183 million euros and has created 90 direct jobs.
Benzene reduction at Tehran refinery:
A project to reduce benzene content in gasoline to below 1% has been implemented to enhance fuel quality and lower environmental pollutants. The project involved an investment of 106 million euros and provides direct employment for 80 people.
Hexane production at Tehran refinery:
A project to produce 400 barrels per day of hexane has been launched to increase value added and diversify the Tehran refinery’s product slate. The investment totals 800,000 euros and supports 25 direct jobs.
South Tehran wastewater treatment at Tehran refinery:
With a daily treatment capacity of 52,000 cubic meters of wastewater, this project significantly reduces Tehran’s potable water consumption, cutting overall urban water use by about 1.5%. The project cost 25 million euros and employs 45 people directly.
Construction of a 63-kilovolt substation at Tehran refinery:
This project enables the refinery’s power generation to connect to the national grid, allowing electricity exchange of up to 30 megawatts. The substation required an investment of 5 million euros and created 40 direct jobs.
LPG recovery project at Isfahan refinery:
Designed to recover liquefied petroleum gas and hydrogen from flare gas streams and supply nitrogen for industrial units, this project involved an investment of 4 million euros and provides direct employment for 75 people.
With the commissioning of these projects, Iran’s refining industry is expected to see improvements in product quality, reduced environmental emissions, greater product diversity and more efficient use of energy and water resources.
