On Monday, Paknejad traveled to Asaluyeh accompanied by Hassan Abbaszadeh, CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, Saeed Tavakoli, CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, and other senior officials. They were welcomed by Mousa Ahmadi, chairman of the Energy Commission.
The Kangan Petro-Refinery was established to optimize the country’s vast gas resources and complete the hydrocarbon value chain. The company focuses on processing and converting the rich gas from South Pars Phase 12 into high-value products, playing a key role in the development of Iran’s petrochemical industry.
Phase 12, the largest phase of South Pars, is located in the southeasternmost part of the field, near the maritime border with Qatar. Its offshore section lies 150 kilometers from Iran’s coast, while the onshore section is in Kangan, 65 kilometers west of Asaluyeh.
