Oil Ministry among top agencies in handling public complaints

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Inspection Center for Public Services Oversight and Administrative Emergencies at Iran’s Administrative and Employment Affairs Organization said the Oil Ministry ranks among the country’s leading agencies in addressing public complaints, underscoring the importance of accountability, transparency and public oversight in promoting administrative integrity.

Kamel Davoudi made the remarks Monday at a conference on administrative health in the oil industry, outlining the core pillars of administrative integrity. He said good governance is built on accountability, transparency, the rule of law, meritocracy, conflict-of-interest management and public oversight, noting that a detailed review of these issues requires separate, specialized sessions.

Referring to the 14th government’s administrative reform program, Davoudi said agencies have been asked to take an active role in expert-level meetings to identify conflict-of-interest situations, potential disputes and corruption bottlenecks and to pursue solutions through operational plans.

Commending the Oil Ministry’s performance in handling public complaints, Davoudi said it is among the top-performing agencies in this area. He added, however, that greater coordination is needed on how oversight systems are used to reduce public difficulties, including issues related to the issuance of fuel cards.

Davoudi said oversight platforms can play an effective role in strengthening accountability, public monitoring and transparency related to administrative health and anti-corruption efforts, stressing that public feedback should be systematically shared with relevant agencies.

Addressing energy waste, he said one key area of cooperation involves receiving public reports on energy losses. He noted that the relevant system includes a mechanism to track reports precisely from submission through referral to responsible bodies.

Davoudi said the organization is ready to hold joint meetings with the Oil Ministry to pursue more effective cooperation in areas such as handling citizens’ complaints, reducing energy waste and improving public services.
