First Oil Industry Research Council Meeting Held

TEHRAN -- Iran’s minister of petroleum placed more responsibility on the managing directors in practicing applied research in the first meeting of Oil Industry Supreme Research Council here Wednesday.

Addressing the meeting attended by managing directors of the four main affiliates of Petroleum Ministry, Seyed Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh urged the officials to generate necessary motivation in the workers for implementing research activities.

“The council should hold meetings more frequently to speed up the research process, bring theory to practice, and ease the cooperation of oil bodies and universities,” he said.

Mansour Moazami, deputy minister for human resources’ affairs, also elaborated on contexts of plan on development of research and technology in oil industry, which were discussed by the attendees.

Oil Industry Supreme Research Council aims at making policies, prioritizing research projects, studying research outcome, and outlining research rules and regulations to facilitate affairs, holding meetings twice a year.

The council’s members include minister of petroleum, Oil Ministry’s four main subsidiaries’ managing directors, research and technology directors, deputy oil minister for human resources’ affairs, the ministry’s director general for research, and two university professors.

According to the schedule, the second meeting will be held late June.
