As the cold season approaches, all oil and gas industry employees are working with maximum effort and solidarity to prepare production facilities and lines for stable energy supply. In this effort, key gas production hubs, especially the southern operational regions, play a crucial role in guaranteeing the country's gas supply.
The Aghar and Dalan, Dey and Sefidzakhur operational region is one of six operational regions of the South Zagros Oil and Gas Company. Last year, it broke production records and played a significant role in providing a stable energy supply. The annual overhaul in this region was conducted during the year's hottest days, coinciding with the 12-day war. All facilities and equipment are now ready for maximum production.
Over 52,000 Work Hours Devoted to Aghar, Dalan Maintenance
Kamal Bolandparvaz Jahromi, head of the Aghar and Dalan, Day and Sefidzakhur operational region, said this year's overhaul in Aghar and Dalan was one of the most extensive in the past 30 years.
"Over a 42-day period, more than 52,000 person-hours of work were completed under difficult conditions," he said. This work included mechanical and instrumentation tasks on 24-inch and 42-inch pipelines, process vessels, pressure tanks and transformers. All work was done with the utmost commitment and precision to ensure safe and continuous production this winter.
Regarding production details, he said gas from the Aghar field is transferred via an 88-kilometer (55-mile), 24-inch pipeline to the Farashband gas processing plant. After adjusting its hydrocarbon dew point, a portion is delivered via a 42-inch pipeline operated by the National Iranian South Oil Company. The first 137 kilometers (85 miles) of this pipeline is within the South Zagros Oil and Gas Company's operational area.
Gas from the Dalan field is gathered at three different centers and then transferred to the Farashband plant via separate pipelines, he added. The main processing at the plant involves adjusting the hydrocarbon and water dew points. Sweet gas from this field is injected into the No. 2 and 3 national gas trunk lines via a 30-inch pipeline. Stabilized gas liquids are transferred to the Shiraz oil refinery via an 8-inch pipeline, contributing significantly to the quality of gasoline produced there.
Farashband Plant Capacity Increases 25% in Two Years
Bolandparvaz Jahromi noted that gas extraction from the Day field began last year. The new field currently has three wells, and its sweet gas is mixed with gas from the Dalan field and sent to the Farashband plant for processing.
"Over the past two years, extensive process improvements have been made at this plant, increasing its capacity by about 25% and allowing us to set new production records," he said.
He thanked his colleagues for their efforts in preparing the equipment for the cold season.
"We are proud that the gas produced in this region makes up a significant part of the country's energy portfolio and warms people's homes throughout the winter," he said. "My colleagues prepared the facilities in temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) so we can achieve maximum efficiency."
Concluding with an appeal for public support, the head of the operational region stressed the necessity of optimal gas consumption to get through the winter.
"Given the country's energy imbalance, we ask our dear people to help us achieve a stable gas supply by conserving energy," he said, "so we can have a secure winter without energy shortages."
