TEHRAN – pure terephthalic acid plan of the second phase of Tondgouyan Petrochemical Complexs development plan has progressed 99 percent.
Rasoul Parsa, director of production plan and control at Tondgouyan Petrochemical Complex noted that pre-commissioning the plant has been finished and it will start production before the end of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2005).
The official noted that thus far polyethylene terephthalate project of the second phase of the complex has been completed 90.26 percent and 80 percent of equipment have been installed.
Pars added that pre-commissioning polyethylene terephthalate plant is going on in parallel to installation operations and three production lines for fiber and bottle grade polyethylene terephthalate will be inaugurated next year.
He said that pure terephthalic acid plant is being built to supply needed feedstock to polyethylene terephthalate plant, but due to difference in inauguration time of the two plants, all products of pure terephthalic acid plant will be currently exported because they enjoy a good market in Asian countries.
The official stated that PET/PTA plan of Tondgouyan Petrochemical Complex has, on the whole, progressed 94.73 percent and it is projected to be made operational in the second quarter of next year.
Tondgouyan Petrochemical Complex includes two phases. Both phases will be producing 800,000 tons polyethylene terephthalate per year, when in full swing, and will earn the country 800 million dollars per year.
